EcoHouseDesign.com was created to offer information and resources to foster and promote eco-friendly house construction, alternative energy sources and usage, DIY renewable energy application, and environmental awareness. Going "GREEN" does not have to be expensive; rather, sustainable housing is energy-efficient and economical. The motivation for the birth of this website is articulated in our Mission Statement.
Future
Rising energy costs and diminishing supply of bio-fuel and fossil fuel have necessitated everyone to search for alternative energy sources. This affects not only future home buyers but current house owners as well. Home owners and house builders are more conscious about using eco-friendly and environmentally friendly materials for building and house construction. Green housing and ecohouse (eco house) designs are seriously considered and incorporated by architects, architecture firms, and construction companies worldwide.
Ecohouse design and eco-friendly housing are now making use of geothermal heating, solar panels, and wind generated electricity. Earth-bermed (rammed earth) housing, straw bale construction, harvesting solar energy, and use of shipping containers are only some of the ways to cut and reduce fuel and energy costs as well as recycling resources. These alternative energy options, such as solar energy and wind energy, can be readily applied and designed into any house or building plans. Installation and implementation of necessary materials and equipment can sometimes be completed as part of a "do it yourself" project. Green housing is cost-effective, energy-efficient, and environmentally-friendly. Sustainable and reusable energy is not only inexpensive, but necessary for the future health of our planet.
